We are pleased to invite you to submit your abstract to the 11th PUBMET2024 Conference on Scholarly Communication in the Context of Open Science, which will be held at the University of Zadar, Croatia from 12 to 13 September 2024.

This year’s PUBMET2024 will explore the core of open scholarly communication by focusing on the central theme of research assessment. We invite speakers and presenters to examine the challenges ingrained in this process, including transparency, bias mitigation, robustness, cost-effectiveness and efficiency optimisation. Moreover, we aim to continue discussions on enhancing peer review mechanisms, encompassing reviewer diversity, role clarification, capacity building, technological advancements and promoting openness.

The organisers of the PUBMET2024 conference invite you to submit an abstract that describes the main idea of your work, its scholarly or practical relevance, and innovative scientific and/or societal impact on the following topics:

Submissions on Research Assessment will be presented as short talks or posters after acceptance. Here are some possible Research Assessment topics:

  • challenges for research assessment processes (transparency, bias, reviewers pool, robustness, cost and efficiency),
  • responsible use of proxies and metrics,
  • recognising the value of a broad range of scientific outputs,
  • content-based research assessment, how to “measure” intrinsic value,
  • peer review (roles, capacity building – training, technology, enhancement, openness),
  • equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging,
  • transformative initiatives.

Other Open Science topics will be presented as posters after acceptance:

  • open publications, data, databases, code, software, preprints, patents, commercial products, instruments, practice developments, educational materials, policy publications,
  • open infrastructures and services, repositories,
  • quality of scholarly publishing, best practices,
  • research integrity in open science, EDIB (equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging), multilingualism,
  • open education, capacity building,
  • OS policies and strategies, diamond model of scholarly publishing
